Montgomery County Special Laws and Rules

Special Laws that apply to Montgomery County and cities within.

If your housing issue is in Montgomery County or one of its cities listed below, check the local rules that may apply in addition to Maryland state law.

 

Montgomery County 

The Office of Landlord-Tenant Affairs (OLTA) handles landlord-tenant disputes.

City of Rockville

The Rockville City Code and Charter are available online. Landlord-tenant law is covered in Chapter 18, Article IV of the code.

City of Gaithersburg

The City of Gaithersburg Landlord-Tenant Code is available online.

City of Takoma Park

Takoma Park has its own landlord-tenant laws which is available online. and publishes a Landlord-Tenant Handbook of Laws and Regulations (also available in Spanish).
